We have been in business since 1988 and as of 2022, we have dedicated our manufacturing division to commercial and construction projects. We have a wonderful new line of quality metal framed Umbrellas for the residential market. And we’ll be showing them this summer at Hakuone,

Our Awnings and Canopies are made to order. They are an evolution of design and manufacturing techniques aimed to combat Hawaii’s harsh environment. In 2024, we are introducing a line of pre-engineered commercial canopies designed to offer our custom structures at the lowest price with our signature quality. Learn more at our Canopies page.

In 2024, wood-framed umbrellas were no longer cost-effective to manufacture. We have found a company that manufactures an umbrella frame we’ve tested and we believe in, and we are offering a new line of metal umbrellas with a premium cover this year. Please learn more on the Umbrellas page.

30 years ago Tropical J’s was hand making handheld umbrellas and selling them at craft fairs hosted by the Pacific Handcrafter’s Guild. From a garage in Mililani to our second manufacturing center in Sand Island, innovation, creativity and quality have always been our values.
